In celebration of ‘World Hunger Day’ on 28 May 2017, FoodForward SA will be holding a national food drive from 8 to 29 May. The food drive will take place with the aim to collect non-perishable food items and raise funds to help feed South Africans in need and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
World Hunger Day which started in 2011 is about raising awareness of chronic hunger and about celebrating the achievements of millions of people who are already taking actions to end their own hunger. World Hunger Day also aims to celebrate sustainable solutions to hunger and poverty where people around the world come together to declare their commitment to those in need.
We are encouraging companies, schools and individuals across the country to get involved and challenge each other to see who can donate the most food. Every South African should get involved and make an impact in the lives of those less fortunate.
See below a guide, for the most needed food items:
- Rice, maize meal, samp, cereal and pasta
- Dried beans, lentils, tinned fish, soya mince and milk powder
- Jam, peanut butter and canned mix vegetables
- Cooking oil, salt and sugar
Food donations can be dropped off at any of our branches in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth or Rustenburg. You may also contact us to arrange collection of larger food donations. For financial contributions click here to donate R300 to feed a person for a year.
