On 24 July, FoodForward SA’s second cohort of interns, assigned to our Cape Town warehouse, completed their training which commenced on 17 February 2020.
FoodForward SA’s Youth Internship Programme consists of one week’s theoretical training followed by three weeks of practical training in warehousing-, supply chain- and logistics management. Two interns who completed their training on 24 July have been offered full-time contracts for 6 months. They will add value to our Cape Town warehouse which currently handles the largest volume of food.
We are immensely proud that, so far, our Youth Internship training programme has had a 100% completion rate. FoodForward SA launched its inaugural SETA-accredited Supply Chain Youth Internship Programme in May 2019. The first cohort of five unemployed youth (two men and three women) were assigned to our Cape Town warehouse. They completed their 6-month internship on 31 October 2019. Four of these interns were offered 6-month full-time contracts to work at FoodForward SA. Of these, one intern has been offered permanent employment at our Cape Town warehouse.
The third cohort of six interns has been assigned to our Johannesburg warehouse and will complete their training on 7 August 2020
