Earlier this year, with the help of one of our board members, FoodForward SA approached the Harley-Davidson Tygervalley dealership with a proposal to partner for a fundraiser, and wow did they deliver!
They encouraged chapters, clubs and individuals in the Harley community to sign up with a R1000 donation and enter a team into a cooking competition featuring a mystery box of 4 ingredients and just a gas stove to cook on.
In total, 9 teams entered (including ourselves!) and our celebrity judges Jenny Morris, Africa Melane and Henning Pretorius had a tough time deciding who prepared the best dish – especially given that the mystery baskets included ingredients like white chocolate, marshmallows and jelly tots, which had to be incorporated into a savoury meal.
Well done to Rouve’s Team for being crowned Harley® Super Chefs of the event! Second runners up were H.O.G.® Breede River, with Willowbridge Centre coming in third place.
Thank you to all of the event sponsors and everyone who came out to support, including our newest brand ambassadors – @devdondidit and Africa Melane! Together you raised enough money to help us distribute 19,000 meals!
An extra special thanks goes out to Marc, Ashleigh, Vasti, Sanette and the rest of the Harley-Davidson Tygervalley team for all their hard work putting this event together and making it a resounding success. Thank you also to John Lucas, our board member, for connecting us with this amazing club.
