Glencore Continues its Support for Foodbanking Model in the North West Region

FoodForward SA would like to give a heartfelt thank you to one of South Africa’s leading mining companies, Glencore, for their generous donation of R1,700,000 towards covering the costs of our Rustenburg branch. This has allowed us to purchase a brand new truck for our Rustenburg branch, ensure continued support to the vulnerable people in the North West region, and implement a dedicated Breakfast Programme to our Early Childhood Development (ECD Beneficiary Organisations, starting in October.

Glencore is a world leader in large-scale, low-cost ferrochrome production. They are a major contributor to the South African economy. Glencore also supports the FoodForward SA Mandela Day, where we were able to collect 540,000 tonnes of food. One of Glencore’s CSI pillars in their sustainable strategy is to uphold human rights and support the long-term development of local communities.

More than 14 million South Africans go hungry every day. FoodForward SA provides regular surplus food to 28 Beneficiary Organisation’s in the region. With the support of Glencore, FoodForward SA can continue with this important work.

Thank you Glencore for making it possible for us to continue with our vision of reducing hunger in South Africa.
