FoodForward SA is proud to pilot an exciting new project, the Beneficiary Organisation (BO) Delivery programme that was initiated in Gauteng on Thursday, 10 October 2019. The BO Delivery model enables vulnerable members of our society to have greater access to nutritious surplus food. Many of our BO’s from peri-urban areas often travel great distances, and at a huge cost, to FoodForward SA’s urban-based warehouses for their monthly food provisions. These collections from far lying areas have burdened BO’s with expensive transportation costs as many of them have to hire local transport companies in order to facilitate their monthly food collection. With FoodForward SA’s BO Delivery model, food is delivered from our urban-based warehouse to the respective BO’s at a massively reduced rate, saving these BO’s valuable funds that can be channelled for other practical uses. Currently, the BO Delivery model is benefitting 8 organisations from Soshanguve, Mamelodi East and Pretoria. Our aim is to expand this programme nationally, so all our beneficiary organisations can reduce their costs and use these funds to grow.
