FoodForward SA Durban branch is re-equipped and fully operational

The news that our Durban branch was directly affected during the civil unrest, lead to immediate action from many of our existing and new donors. It was this incredible show of philanthropy that lead to our branch being fully operational within two weeks, albeit at temporary premises.

We would like to thank the donors who provided us with financial support – Walmart, the Walmart Foundation and Massmart, FNB, Philip Morris International, Vodacom (to provide support for our Gauteng operations), The Foschini Group, Investec Private Charitable Trusts, PEP Stores, Mondelez, AMC Cookware, SA Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Zenex Foundation, Mamelodi Sundowns, SA Avocado Association, Institute for Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) and Mazars. The funding has been used to procure food for supplementing surplus food donations, purchase new vehicles and re-equip the warehouse.

We are grateful to our food donors who provided us with additional support to re-build our KZN operations – Massmart, OneFarm Share (an initiative of Standard Bank and HelloChoice), Tiger Brands, RCL and the Do More Foundation, Premier FMCG, Pick n Pay and Boxer Stores, and Pioneer Foods and Danone, whose donations were facilitated by the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA). Thank you Dr Daniel Shmukler for donating brand new PCs for the Durban branch and Mondelez for also equipping the branch with brand new office furniture. We are grateful to Monteagle Logistics and Paradigm Software and Hosting for hosting food drives to benefit our Durban branch.

Through this overwhelming support and generosity from our donors, our Durban branch has been able to fully resume their foodbanking operations. They are now reaching nearly 94,000 vulnerable beneficiaries across KZN through a network of 162 beneficiary organisations, including those in the more remote rural areas of the province.
