African Angels School was established in 2012 to provide parents of children who live in households with low incomes with a local, affordable, quality primary school. We started with 28 children in 2012, and we now have 158 children attending every day, in grades R–7.
We have seen many of our children apply and be awarded high school bursaries to some of the best high schools in South Africa, including the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (7 girls), 5 x Allan Gray Scholars and many others accepted on bursaries into quality high schools.
Our second cohort of Alumni, who left us in Grade 7 in 2018, finished matric last year, some entering university, and others into “gap year” social employment funded positions.
Providing a holistic education includes a nutrition programme, as all our students come from socioeconomically insecure households. Your support for our Food Forward donation every month has been instrumental in supplementing the daily meals our learners receive, and as such, we are very grateful, as are our students.
We are a small charity located just outside East London in Chintsa East, we truly hope you decide to continue your support.
Thank you for your generosity.
