Celebrating the Impact of Our Beneficiary Organisations

As we reflect on a year of remarkable achievements, we’re reminded that the true heroes in the fight against hunger are the individuals and organisations on the frontlines, working tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of South Africans who need it most.

At FoodForward SA, we collaborate with a network of 2500 beneficiary organisations (BOs) that are the heart and soul of our mission to combat food insecurity across the country. These community-driven groups, ranging from shelters and afterschool programmes to women’s organisations and community centres, are not just distributing food – they’re building stronger, more resilient communities, and providing vital services that empower individuals to create lasting change in their lives.

This year, our BOs have worked tirelessly to ensure that 920,000 people receive nutritious meals daily and offer essential support. Through their dedication, these organisations have become lifelines for many, providing not just food but hope, care, and opportunities for a brighter future. Every day, they embody the spirit of community, compassion, and collaboration that is so vital in addressing hunger and its far-reaching impacts.

As we close the year, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible work being done by these Food Heroes. We’ve seen so many inspiring examples of innovation, resilience, and love for the communities they serve. But, while 2024 may be drawing to a close, the work is far from over.

We’re excited to announce that our BO applications will be reopening on January 6, 2025, as we continue to expand our network of partners. We invite registered NGOs from the following regions: Rouxville (Free State), Bethal, Ermelo (Mpumalanga), Burgersfort (Limpopo), and Fort Beaufort (Eastern Cape) to visit our website and see if your organisation meets the criteria to join our network. We can’t wait to see what amazing work we can accomplish together in the coming year.

Here are some heartfelt testimonials from our BOs that highlight the incredible work being done across communities:

Athlone House of Strength: “Working with FoodForward SA over the past year has been a deeply inspiring experience. Their unwavering commitment to reducing food insecurity and uplifting communities is truly remarkable. Athlone House Of Strength is a GBV shelter for abused women and their children. We do not only provide meals to our residents on a daily basis but we also reach out to our less fortunate community members near to our shelter. We prepare and distribute food to those in need and this has shown us first-hand the incredible impact we can make when we come together. We look forward to even greater impact in the years to come.”

Biz Afrika 1228 Trading as Crossroads International: “At Crossroads…we don’t believe in giving a hand-out but a hand-up to those who are underprivileged. We serve our people with love and dignity. Therefore, we would like to thank Food Forward who have partnered with us to make a difference in the lives of indigent people. Our heartfelt gratitude is true and we are humbled to be considered worthy recipients of Food Forward SA.

I Am A Dreamer Foundation – “FoodForward SA plays a vital role in supporting the I Am A Dreamer Foundation’s programmes by ensuring consistent access to nutritious food supplies, which are essential for the well-being of the children and families we serve. FoodForward SA’s support aligns with our mission to empower orphans and vulnerable children, enabling us to achieve meaningful impact in their lives and the communities we serve.

Fundukwazi Training Centre for Intellectual Impairment: “FoodForward SA’s consistent donations of food have ensured that the underprivileged individuals we serve not only receive education and training but also access to nutritious meals that fuel their progress. This invaluable support helps us create a nurturing environment where learners can focus on their studies without the burden of hunger, empowering them to achieve their full potential.

We are deeply grateful for FoodForward SA unwavering commitment to our mission. Their donations have not only fed many but also fostered hope and a sense of belonging within the community.
