Born from a single vision in November 2002, Yizani Sakhe began as a modest cooking project with zero budget.
“With the grace of God” and the dedication of its founder, it has transformed into an impactful organisation uplifting vulnerable communities.
Over the years, Yizani Sakhe has expanded its focus from supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS and TB to include services for child-headed households, the elderly, and youth. Their initiatives include job placement, skills development programmes, and income-generating projects.
This year, Yizani Sakhe was one of the beneficiary organisations (BOs) at our World Food Day packing event, where they shared their inspiring story.
The food provided to our BOs on World Food Day was more than just a meal—it was a lifeline.

Yizani Sakhe serves three nutritious meals a day to their beneficiaries, ensuring they are nourished, healthy, and able to stay on track with treatments and daily activities. From a warm breakfast of coffee and bread to lunch and afternoon snacks, the meals help families stay strong and supported, giving them the energy, they need to move forward.
In a heartfelt message, a representative from Yizani Sakhe shared their gratitude: “We thank God for the vision and wisdom of FoodForward SA. Without your support, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We feel blessed to be part of this family.”
