World Food Day is just a week away, and this year, it’s more important than ever to raise awareness about global hunger and food insecurity.
Celebrated annually on October 16 and founded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Day aims to highlight the pressing issues of hunger that affect millions around the world. The theme for this year is “The Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future,” reminding us that access to nutritious food is a fundamental human right.
In South Africa, a staggering 30 million people face food insecurity, while we waste an astonishing 10 million tonnes of food each year.
This is where you come in! Join FoodForward SA in making a real difference through our Fill the Gap campaign leading up to World Food Day. Gather your friends, family, or colleagues to host a food drive and help us reach our goal of packing 1.8 million meals to those in need.
