Blaqpearl Foundation Empowering Youth in Mitchells Plain

The Blaqpearl Foundation (BPF) is dedicated to uplifting communities through life skills, arts, sports, and leadership. Located in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town, BPF primarily supports unemployed youth and schoolchildren through its afterschool programme. The foundation offers free counselling and implements initiatives that promote fitness, wellness, creative writing, arts, and anti-gender-based violence (GBV). These programmes are designed to enhance both emotional and physical well-being.

A Vital Partnership for Nutrition

Through their partnership with FoodForward SA, one of our skills development beneficiary organizations, the monthly food they receive is crucial for ensuring that beneficiaries have access to nutritious meals.

Janine Overmeyer, Executive Director at BPF, explains, “During workshops, participants enjoy balanced meals that are essential for their overall health. We also distribute food hampers to those in need, helping to alleviate food insecurity, which can lead to stress, malnutrition, and mental health issues.”

Building a Brighter Future

The Blaqpearl Foundation is making significant strides in enhancing community well-being.

By prioritising good nutrition and holistic development, they are nurturing a brighter future for the youth of Mitchell’s Plain, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive.
