FoodForward SA Thanks our Ecosystem of Support for their Commitment to our Vision

Since our establishment 15 years ago, FoodForward SA has cultivated an incredible system of support – donors, sponsors, in-kind service providers, partners and volunteers – who, thanks to their unwavering and steadfast dedication to our vision, have enabled us to strengthen our food security programmes so that we can provide sustenance to nearly 1 million people every day.

Navigating a challenging economic climate

South Africa finds itself entrenched in a tough economic environment, characterised by volatile global conditions, persistent loadshedding, natural disasters, and persistent structural challenges. Against this backdrop, the nation’s bleak economic outlook is further exacerbating the suffering of millions of South Africans, with the most vulnerable, particularly children, bearing the brunt of food and nutrition poverty.

Feeding the vulnerable amidst adversity

The weak economic environment in which many non-profit organisations are operating has had a tangible effect on donor funding.

Despite these challenges, FoodForward SA remains resolute in our mission.

We owe this reliance to the unwavering support of our devoted network of benefactors, whose dedication sustains our efforts to nourish 920,000 people daily – nearly half of whom are vulnerable children.

Leveraging our innovative foodbanking model, we recover good quality surplus food from farmers, manufacturers and retailers and distribute it to 2,500 beneficiary organisations that serve the elderly, disabled, women and children, unemployed and at-risk youth. In doing so, we are not only alleviating hunger but strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities, while also reducing food loss and waste.

Gratitude to our champions of change

We extend our deepest gratitude to all our supporters and donors for their dedication – from the donors who provide regular, monthly donations that sustain our operations, to the corporates and foundations who provide funding to launch pioneering new programmes – thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
