FoodForward SA extends support in Free State with the launch of Bethlehem Mobile Rural Depot

With the cost of food and fuel constantly rising, lower-income families are left with even more strenuous financial struggles, causing adjustments to their monthly budget to cover their living costs for groceries, transport, water, and electricity.

To relieve the pressure of transport costs, and provide greater access to nutritious food for rural communities, FoodForward SA’s Mobile Rural Depot programme has extended its reach in the Free State with the addition of a new MRD in Bethlehem. On a monthly basis, our food heroes from our Free State branch travel to a central location in Qwa-Qwa, Welkom, and now Bethlehem to distribute nutritious monthly food provisions to around 65 registered and vetted beneficiary organisations within our network.

Thanks to our partnership with Engen who sponsors our fuel costs, we can ensure that the aged and frail, orphaned and vulnerable children, patients with disabilities as well as vulnerable women and children in the Free State region receive nutritious meals every day.
