From all of us at FoodForward SA a heartfelt thank you to all our partners, donors, and volunteers for rallying together with us in celebration of Mandela Day.
The Mandela Day food drive was conceptualized to support those in need, as best we can, during the cold winter months. With this year’s theme being “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are” we are ecstatic to share that a total of 2651 volunteers spent 67minutes with us to sort, deface and pack non-perishable food items for vulnerable communities.
At each of our events throughout the country in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Rustenburg we packed enough food to provide 1.5million meals. This food will be distributed during winter to our network of 2500 beneficiary organisations that collectively reach over 875,000 vulnerable people every day.
Vulnerable communities need support now more than ever before, as food prices are sharply affecting the availability, accessibility, and affordability of food. FoodForward SA is committed to continuing to provide access to nutritious food to nourish lives and empower vulnerable communities across South Africa, but we cannot do this alone.
Thank you, once again for your kindness, generosity, and contribution to helping us in our fight against hunger in our beloved country.
