Media24 Employees Volunteer their Time at FoodForward SA

Corporate volunteering plays an important role at FoodForward SA, as we aim to pick, pack, and distribute food provisions to more than 2,225 of our member beneficiary organisations within our network every month. It’s also a fun staff engagement activity that serves as a great team-builder to connect with colleagues and local communities.

FoodForward SA is thankful to our many corporate volunteers who offer their time, lending a much-needed helping hand at our warehouses across the country, and raising awareness about our mission and brand. We recently welcomed a team from Media24 to participate & learn more about our foodbanking model at our Cape Town warehouse.

They got their hands dirty while sorting, packing, and defacing non-perishable food groceries for our registered and vetted beneficiary organisations that cook nutritious meals for people in need.

As a Media24 employee, we get 24 hours which we dedicate to do charitable work. Thus, doing good is part of how we do things – it’s The Media24 Way 😊.

In the past I have participated in many different charitable initiatives such as reading to the children at Red Cross, helping with the winter soup kitchen at Ladles of Love, and helping with the Santa shoebox drive. So obviously when I came across FoodForward SA online, I was super excited to join.”

“For me, paying it forward is a big deal. I grew up in a less fortunate community not too far from the FoodForward SA warehouse in Epping. So, this one was a little closer to my heart and home- literally. My colleagues and I volunteered for a few hours. We helped with the warehouse operations, which was very exciting. I especially enjoy community feeding initiatives because it targets a basic human need. My hope is to get more of my colleagues on board on our next trip to FoodForward SA. Hopefully we’ll be able to dedicate more hours to this specific cause on our next trip.”

“Thank you for affording us the opportunity to volunteer at your warehouse. It was most rewarding.” Says Jodie Julius, Contracts and Rights Assistant. Does your company have a Corporate Volunteer Programme? Sign up here.
