The Agri SA Surplus food aid campaign was rolled out in two phases as Agri SA received a donation of R1 million from Yara Africa Fertilizer amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Agri SA and their social partners Yara Africa Fertilizer, RSA Group, the Mike Loutfie Foundation and FoodForward SA were able to distribute nutritious food parcels which included the addition of quality fresh produce, to many suffering communities across South Africa.
Fast forward two years and Agri SA has launched phase two of the campaign, with FoodForward SA as the beneficiary of surplus food including fresh produce from producers and other donors. This year’s fresh food aid campaign, involving Agri SA’s provincial affiliates Agri Western Cape, Agri Northern Cape, Agri Eastern Cape, Agri North-West and Mpumalanga Agriculture, encourages farmers to donate their surplus food to improve household food security. Agri SA with its provincial partners and FoodForward SA is looking forward to making a difference in the lives of communities in need.
