Consol Glass Staff Volunteer their Time

Volunteers lend their expertise to the board of directors; they help by providing pro bono services with marketing, fundraising campaigns and events, as well as often working alongside the non-profit’s permanent staff as additional workforce capacity to meet the organisation’s mission. FoodForward SA is indebted to our many volunteers – from our board of directors who volunteer their time, to our ambassadors who help raise awareness about our mission and brand, and the many individuals, schools and corporate teams that lend much-needed helping hands at our warehouses.

The Head Office team of Consol Glass recently took time out of their busy schedules to help pack food parcels at FoodForward SA’s Johannesburg branch. The volunteers were carefully tasked with sorting, de-facing and packing donated food items for FoodForward SA’s Household Food Security Programme, which targets patients with chronic illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, pregnant and lactating mothers, child-headed homes, and other vulnerable people at the household level.

“It was very rewarding to be part of the volunteers from Consol.  To know that your time has been spent doing good for those who need more than you, through the outstanding work of FoodForward SA, is very humbling. The words of Mahatma Gandhi ring true: The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others,” says Cleo Madini, Consol’s Marketing Officer.
