FOODFORWARD SA’S SUPPORT HELPS TO EMPOWER COMMUNITIES

Hope Africa Collective, one of our skills development beneficiary organisations located in Philipi, Western Cape, collect food parcels from our Cape Town warehouse. The partnership with FoodForward SA helps alleviate food insecurity among at-risk youth who have joined their skills training programmes. Not only are the food parcels used to provide meals for vulnerable households, they serve as incentives for the youth to stay on course during their training.

In our recent visit to Hope Africa Collective, Managing Director, Brandon Weber took us on a tour of their campus and introduced us to the facilitators and students of their training programmes, including students attending the Trade Skills, Computer Skills and Hair Salon training.

We also met Andreas, owner of The Printery located on the campus, who assists with creative fundraising initiatives to generate income for the NPO.  All of these training programmes aim to build entrepreneurial skills so that once students (informally known as Champions) complete each programme, they are capable of applying their skills to generate an income. Students are also kept informed about potential employment opportunities.

It is so important for our youth to find their place in society. We are grateful to partner with the team at Hope Africa Collective to ensure young people have bright futures to look forward to.

To Hope Africa Collective, thank you for helping your students believe in transforming their situations by believing in themselves. 💚
