In 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic, Vodacom approached FoodForward SA to explore how they could assist us in reaching more vulnerable beneficiaries.
As their purpose is to connect people, create possibilities and change lives, the Vodacom Foundation applied a rigorous assessment process of our operations. Prospective beneficiaries of their financial support must, for instance, provide evidence of scalability, sustainability and measurability.
With the assurance that we are able to reach nearly half a million people across all provinces of South Africa through our national infrastructure, including our innovative digital technology platform, and that their support would further advance our scaling plan, Vodacom committed to make a generous donation of R2 million to FoodForward SA.
Vodacom’s donation provides us with a significant impetus to reach 1 million vulnerable people by 2024. A critical part of our scaling plan is to serve the most poverty-stricken communities in South Africa. Through our rapidly growing Mobile Rural Depot (MRD) programme, we purposely identify the most vulnerable, rural communities. Thank you, Vodacom, for connecting with FoodForward SA and helping us change lives!
