FoodForward SA’s ability to recover and distribute fresh produce through our Second Harvest Programme received a huge boost when the OneFarm Share platform was launched on 2 March 2021. Developed by Standard Bank, in partnership with FoodForward SA and AgriTech pioneers HelloChoice, the online match-making solution connects farmers, through FoodForward SA’s network, with registered charity organisations that offer feeding programmes in vulnerable communities.
During its pilot phase, OneFarm Share enabled the distribution 270 tonnes of fresh produce, providing over 1 million meals to vulnerable individuals. In 2021, Standard Bank hopes to increase OneFarm Share’s impact by ten times, to deliver 7400 tonnes of food across all nine provinces of South Africa. This will enable the preparation of over 30 million meals!
