Partnerships with important supply chain partners and financial services providers have a big impact on our ability to feed hungry South Africans.
On World Food Day, 16 October, FoodForward SA was identified as a recipient of Mastercard’s Click to Feed initiative. In partnership with Pick n Pay’s Feed the Nation campaign, the Click to Feed campaign will donate 30 meals to FoodForward SA, every time a customer pays with their Mastercard on Pick n Pay’s online shop.
FFSA will distribute the donated meals to around 1,000 beneficiary organisations across South Africa, reaching millions of people. The Click to Feed initiative runs until 31 December 2020 and builds on the Tap to Feed campaign in 2018 when Mastercard partnered with Pick n Pay and FFSA to donate a meal for every contactless payment made in Pick n Pay stores.
During the 2018 campaign, Mastercard donated over 1.5 million meals to help fight hunger in South Africa. With this year’s campaign, they aim to drive greater impact and donate up to two million meals to further support South Africa’s recovery from the devasting economic and health impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Suzanne Morel, country manager at Mastercard South Africa says, “This is a priceless cause we know many people hold close to their hearts, and together, we can do more to be a force for good and make a real difference in people’s lives.”
