FoodForwards SA’s Youth Internship Programme Grows

FoodForward SA’s Supply Chain Youth Internship Programme (YIP) shifts into gear as we welcomed 2 new groups: Our Cape Town internship started on Monday, 17 February 2020 and our Johannesburg internship started on Monday, 24 February 2020. The inaugural cohort of interns from 2019 have all successfully completed their internship while some have been absorbed by us and are settling in comfortably.

Our YIP is a SETA-accredited initiative rolled out over a 6-month period where the interns gain valuable practical experience and solid academic training in supply chain processes and operations. The programme incorporates a comprehensive curriculum that includes inventory management, health and safety, food safety, and logistics.

FoodForward SA has initiated the YIP to facilitate easy access into the supply chain for unemployed youth. The interns are provided with incredible mentoring sessions by supply-chain professionals and fantastic employment absorption opportunities.

With South Africa’s youth unemployment rate at 55% (statssa), FoodForward SA has demonstrated its commitment to reverting this shocking statistic. We warmly welcome our new interns and wish them a productive and engaging internship with the FoodForward SA family.
