The partnership between FoodForward SA and Shoprite started in 2015, and has grown tremendously over the years through regular donations of food and funds, used to support our efforts to feed hungry South Africans.
Most recently Shoprite donated funds to cover the cost of providing fundraising and marketing training to twenty (ten from Cape Town and ten from Johannesburg) of FoodForward SA beneficiary organisations. The Tlamela Community Aid National Fundraising and Marketing workshop aims to provide delegates with a better understanding of the South African fundraising environment. Delegates are taught how to plan, implement, manage and administer fundraising campaigns. They also learn how social media, advertising and various marketing methods can support their fundraising efforts.
The Cape Town workshop took place on the 9th March 2017, and the Johannesburg workshop on the 30th of March 2017.
“The training has improved my marketing skills”
Gregory, a representative from Woodside Special Care Centre, one of FoodForward SA’s beneficiary organisations, says “The workshop was very helpful and a great experience, facilitated by experts in the field. The training has improved my marketing skills, taught me how to effectively communicate with donors, and how to utilise social media for marketing campaigns”. The workshops will enable the organisations to operate more efficiently. Through the process of skills development, beneficiary organisations operational objectives are more achievable which is essential to the long-term sustainability for the beneficiary organisations.
A growing partnership
FoodForward SA is grateful to have a partner such as Shoprite who shares a common goal of enriching the lives of disadvantaged South Africans. A lot has been accomplished throughout the partnership and has many South Africans benefiting from its initiatives.
