Thanks for your support of World Food Day!

From a food drive, to holding a luncheon, selling items and running an online campaign, companies showed their support for FoodForward SA and the work that we do to deliver hope to the hungry on World Food Day on 16 October.

Between 13 and 16 October, we, in partnership with Checkers, held a food drive in Blue Route Mall in Cape Town and Mall of Africa in Johannesburg to collect non-perishable food for distribution to various organisations including orphanages, old aged homes, homes for the disabled, shelters for abused women and children and youth development centres.

Thanks to Checkers and especially the public, this event was a success and FoodForward SA commends them for being committed to making a real difference.

In commemoration of this day of action against hunger, one of SA’s most-loved food personalities and FoodForward SA patron, Jenny Morris – AKA, The Giggling Gourmet and Reza Mahammad, one of the UK’s top Indian restauranteurs held a luncheon to raise funds for our organisation at The Cooks Playground in the Cape Quarter.

Partners in our fight against hunger, online store, through the sale of their funky t-shirts, raised enough money to provide 6 years worth of meals to those who need it most! Simply amazing!

Knorr ran an online campaign not only to generate awareness about the plight of the hungry globally, but also to encourage people to donate meals to FoodForward SA via social media. People were asked to post a comment with the hashtag #ShareAMealSA on Knorr’s Facebook and Twitter pages and for every post, they donated a meal.

In line with RCL FOODS’ passion to provide more food to more people, the company distributed nutritious meals to various FoodForward SA beneficiaries in communities across South Africa.

FoodForward SA would like to thank these companies and individuals for their amazing support and also wish to convey our sincere gratitude to the volunteers who assisted us with our food drives and photographers that helped us capture this special day.
