In its 17th year running, South Africa’s premier culinary event, the Good Food & Wine Show, was held at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg from 29 to 31 of July. FoodBank SA attended the show and welcomed new supporters to our stand at the popular foodie event.
The show was nothing but amazing and boasted a number of fun and fascinating things to do. There were various cooking demonstrations, cake decorating classes, and many lifestyle and wellness products to experience. Foodies were treated to an array of gourmet samples, delicious market and street food and beer and wine tasting.
When it comes to entertainment, event organisers Fiera Milano – Exhibitions Africa did not disappoint with their open celebrity chef’s theatre. Some of South Africa’s top chefs, Matt Moran, Neil Anthony, Sarah Graham and Foodbank SA patrons, Jenny Morris, J’ Something and Siba Mtongana cooked up a storm for hundreds of onlookers.
At the theatre, George Dimitrios Calombaris, an Australian chef, restaurateur and judge of the Network Ten series MasterChef Australia enthusiastically helped fundraise for us by auctioning off a chef’s jacket, signed by himself and fellow chefs. George also included his cook book and a pot from his signature collection.
The auction raised R10 000 for FoodBank SA and in addition, we received donations to the value of R11 000 from the visitors to our stand. Thank you to everyone who supported us on the day.
