DO YOUR ‘67 MINUTES’ FOR MANDELA DAY WITH FOODBANK SA

FoodBank South Africa, a NPO that collects food from manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, and redistributes it to verified NPO’s who feed 140,000 hungry mouths, is challenging you to join the fight against hunger by joining forces with them for ‘Mandela Day’.

What has become known as the annual day of goodwill in South Africa, allows FoodBank SA staff and their volunteers, to do their ’67 minutes’ in honour of Mandela and fight hunger at the same time.

Help aid FoodBank SA’s considerable efforts to reduce hunger in our local communities by hosting your own Food Drive at your school or workplace; the collected food will go towards replenishing supplies at their warehouses in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

“The rise in food and fuel prices has placed added pressure on households which in turn places even greater pressure on FoodBank SA to ensure that we source enough edible food to meet the growing demand from the NPOs needing our assistance. Food Drives go a long way in helping us feed the hungry this winter”, said Kate Hamilton, Fund Development Manager, FoodBank SA.
