Today FoodBank SA kick started its World Food Day Awareness campaign by taking to the streets to raise awareness of hunger in South Africa. Not only will we be raising awareness but we will also be showing the public how a small donation can go a long way.
Lookout for the FoodBank SA team with their placards at different Cape Town intersections in the mornings and in the afternoons from 12-16 October.

Monday
Morning: Intersection of Stadium On Main Rd and Main Road, Claremont
Afternoon: Intersection of Klipfontein Road and Jan Smut drive, Athlone.
Tuesday
Morning: Intersection of Edinburg Dr and Hillwood Road, Claremont
Afternoon: Intersection of Doordrift Rd and Spaanschemat River Rd, Constantia
Wednesday
Morning: Intersection of College Rd and Jakes Gerwel Drive, Gatesville
Afternoon: Intersection of Walter Sisulu Ave and Buitengracht St, Waterfront
Thursday
Morning: Intersection of Forest Dr and Uitvlugt Rd, Pinelands
Afternoon: Intersection of Viking Way and Jakes Gerwel Drive, Epping
Friday
Morning: Corner of Riebeek and Buitengracht, CBD Cape Town
In conjunction with the awareness campaign FoodBank SA is running a World Food Day Food Drive, challenging corporates, schools and the public to participate and show support by collecting and donating non-perishable food items leading up to the 16 of October.
How to get involve
You can get involved by hosting your own food drive in support of FoodBank SA and donating non-perishable food items at selected Pick n Pay stores around Cape Town including PnP Long Beach, Gardens, Constantia, Tygervalley, Brackenfell Hyper, Claremont, Ottery Hyper, Plattekloof, Somerset Mall and Table View.
You can also SMS the word “Food” to 49050 and donate R 15 which will provide 12 meals to hungry South Africans.
