A three year partnership with Glencore will not only touch lives but will feed thousands of hungry South Africans.
Glencore has generously committed to sponsoring FoodBank SA’s Rustenburg branch for three years, covering all of the operating costs of providing food to 33 beneficiary organisations who in turn serve over 3,000 beneficiaries daily.
The partnership is part of Glencore’s commitment to make a difference through its Corporate Social Involvement (CSI) program by creating sustainable value in the communities where it operates and in society as a whole.
This three year partnership is a renewal of a previous sponsorship and comes at a time when hunger is a real problem in Rustenburg and the surrounding areas. Glencore’s support allows FoodBank Rustenburg to really make a difference in the area by meeting the food needs of the surrounding communities.
“Our participation in this initiative indicates our commitment to the fight against poverty. These activities, along with the employment that we provide, especially to local communities, contribute directly and indirectly to the development of our country and our communities in particular,” said Ms Fatima Hayat – Glencore Rustenburg Smelter Senior Human Resources Manager.
FoodBank SA Managing Director, Mr. Andy Du Plessis says “Over 11 million South African seek food relief every day, and in spite of the fact that we provide food to over 450 beneficiary organisations who in turn serve more than 110, 000 beneficiaries daily throughout South Africa, the need is much greater. This is why we’re extremely grateful to Glencore for showing their commitment to addressing hunger by partnering with us again.”
Thank you Glencore for helping in this practical way!
